The Suicide Squad.

From ancient javelins to magic wands, Cunningham designed over a dozen props for the James Gunn directed action-comedy starring Margot Robie, John Cena and Idris Elba.

Captain Boomerang.

The weapon of choice for the Eponymous Australian member of the squad. Several visual directions and scales were explored before Cunningham finalized the geometry for fabrication.

Javelin.

The weapon of choice for the Eponymous Scandanavian member of the squad. The script called for an ancient javelin, which Cunningham conceptualized as having existed in numerous epochs, with successive layers of metallurgy and identifiable motifs.

Bloodsport.

Cunningham designed a first pass at Idris Elba’s primary weapon, ‘the biggest gun’ as it was known in the studio. Initially projected to be a modular extension of a Short Rifle Barrel platform, with components embedded in Bloodsports costume.

Peacemaker.

Cunningham designed all of Peacemaker’s weapons, played by John Cena. Whats becoming a right of passage for professional wrestler’s entering Hollywood action films, as Cunningham also designed Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnsons weapons in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Ratcatcher 2.

Ratcatcher 2 uses a technological, rat-controlling wand which she inherited from her father Ratcatcher the first. The characters being Portuguese, Cunningham integrated photo reference of texture and pattern from his travels in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra.

Polkadot Man.

Polka-Dot Man, was a metahuman criminal who could grow multi-colored polka-dots from his body due to an inter-dimensional virus, and weaponize them. In the film he wears a restraint collar and power inhibitor, ultimately designed by Tim Flattery, Cunningham provided around 50 proposals.

Mongal.

Mongal was an alien warrior from the planet Warworld that was made part of the initial Task Force X strike team sent to Corto Maltese, she wields a set of Tomfa Blades designed by Cunningham.

Starro.

Starro, the villlain with the most sub-textual references to date, is dropped into a case when first recovered in space. This is the design story of that case.

Control Board.

Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, uses the Case to selectively eliminate squad members who deviate from the mission plan. 3D models created by Cunningham were used for prototyping.
