Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Cunningham led The Hero vehicle design for the second time in a Godzilla tentpole feature, while working closely with Production Designer Tom Hammock and Director Adam Wingard for the epic action adventure movie that pits Godzilla x Kong against a new threat.

VISUAL THEME.

Early discussions for the vehicle design with Tom and Adam centered around the shape and performance wanting to mimic the animal lifeforms of the Hollow Earth, while being robust enough to withstand any physical contact.

ANIMATICS.

Cunningham created animations of the various flight modes and landing processes to sell the kinematic concept. This ultimatley led to the desire to build the entire vehicle as a practical set piece at full scale.

SCHEMATICS.

Formal considerations included dimensionally accurate interiros and occupant packaging for the actors, custom proportional grids in the vein of regulating lines from Vitruvius and Ghyka, and alottments for visual display options within the interior spaces.

VISUALISATION.

ThThe final step before handing the concept off to the fantastic fabrication team in Australia, who under the guidance of Tom, Andrew, and Adam, built an extraordinary set piece that kept the theme intact while responding to prototyping constraints.

PRODUCTION.

Production trailers and stills include a healthy balance of Physical Sets and Visual Effects Models, bringing the concept into a fully-realized, visceral character on the silver screen.
